Oracle Red Bull Racing Campaign wins Virtual Production Innovation Award at Cannes

The innovative work of XPLOR, Final Pixel and Oracle Red Bull Racing in creating the campaign that launched the winning RB19 car has now won its own award.

On Monday, the Global Production Awards were presented by Screen International at Cannes, shining a light on the incredible production and location work that goes into creating films and shows.

Filmed at Production Park’s Studio 004, Oracle Red Bull Racing created a film to launch the season’s car in what was F1’s first ever virtual production shoot. Showing the RB19 on a road trip across the USA, the shoot blended archive footage, video plats and drone shots with scenes produced in Unreal Engine, CGI and VFX.

Head of XPLOR Phil Adlam said: “It’s great to be recognised for our work with Red Bull and Final Pixel in what was a dream job for the XPLOR team. Our VP and Unreal Engine technicians really helped to solve some challenges for the client, both creatively by allowing the car to go places it otherwise wouldn't have been able to, and sustainably, by helping to create a carbon net zero film. We hope this paves the way for brands and production companies to consider using this approach more.”
